Luggage & My First Private Jet

Ross sent out luggage tags today with their emblem stitched into one side and a clear window on the other side.  There’s an info card you fill out and put in it except it had me all confused… if you’re going TO St. Kitts shouldn’t the information you fill out be where you’ll end up on the island as opposed to putting your U.S. information (I ask because it’s clearly set-up for a U.S. address)?  Whatever, I’m excited I got free luggage tags from the school! lol.  Now when LIAT potentially loses my luggage I can at least say they were clearly labeled!  Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of faith in this first trip, so many stops don’t bode well for smooth traveling.

On a positive note — I believe I’ve secured down a private jet to fly myself & my ‘babies’ to St. Kitts in May!  Sentient Flight Group has quoted me $5k-6k for one-way travel… now I need to find someone who needs a ride BACK to U.S. to make it work!!  I’m hoping a student with a crazy dog needs a private ride back to the states and will pay for the empty leg back… a funny note, the rep said they’ve catered to Paris Hilton and her little dog and they’re also aviation sponsors of the PGA and the Breeder’s Cup! :)   Regardless, if by chance you will be vacationing in a nearby island around end of April/beginning of May and need a ride back on a private light jet, let me know, I want to travel like a rockstar!!

Back to luggage — I need big and light.  So far, I’ve been pointed to Eagle Creek Luggage.  I found a wheeled duffel that’s right around 60″ overall and weighs a little over 9 lbs.  Behold, the Eagle Creek Load Warrior LT 30.  Hopefully, two of those should work… they are a bit pricey though…  I’m peeved about the carry-on restrictions.  United Airlines, not so much, but LIAT’s carry-on has to be 36″ and 15 lbs which INCLUDES my laptop – how retarded is that?!  Every bag I’ve found online weighs at least 5 lbs.  So I’ll have my laptop a pair of underwear and a roll of toilet paper (Thanks for the tip, Rachel) in my carry-on basically.  Maybe I’ll throw in a bathing suit.

In the health department of things — got my physical done, rabies titer drawn for me AND my dogs (their first out of two) and also my TB test, which came out negative, yay!  Still waiting on my titer results.  The doctor’s office is holding my school form hostage until my results come in and I pay which is kind of strange… I asked for it twice and they were so adamant about hanging onto it in case I bailed on them.  Going to the health department was a much better experience by the way… for some reason I thought a more private practice would have much better trained nurses? I’m not sure why I would assume this or even make this generalization but I did and I was wrong — the poor lady stuck my arm with the TB needle and swirled it around a good handful of times before she goes “this just does not want to go under your skin!” Ugh… and THEN right before she went to draw my blood, she tells me she practiced drawing blood on a diabetic dog.  It didn’t make me feel better and it hurt in the end, too.  AND I bled into my band-aid which didn’t happen once at the health department.  Wah, wah, I know… now I’m just complaining to complain.  I go back to the health department early December for my 2nd Hepatitis A/B (Twinrix) shot.  I’ll also get my HIV and VDRL test results back at that time so that I can finally be DONE and send my documents off!

I’m doing Thanksgiving here this year — I’m making a feast, for the beasts too!  There might be pictures to come…  I’ll have to make sure I get enough Thanksgiving seeing that I’ll be missing out in the next 2 years!

  1. If you secure the private jet, I’m going to have to get you a thick gold chain to wear and some tacky Louis Vuitton luggage (bought from a street vendor, of course) so you can look the part.
